Dear CBRN Family,

The 1st Istanbul CBRN Days will be held on 20-21 October 2023 in Istanbul, the meeting point of the world in coordination with the Istanbul Aydın University Center for Environment and Human Health (ÇEVSAM) and the CBRN Defense Policy Development Association.

This meeting will provide a valuable opportunity for national participants to share their knowledge and experiences in this field. It is expected to boost the scientific infrastructure and studies related to CBRN defense in our country and relevant institutions. The event aims to facilitate networking among experts and professionals working in this area, encourage them to share their work, and foster increased collaborations among them.

The CBRN environment encompasses incidents involving exposure to biological warfare agents/bioterrorism, infectious diseases, chemical warfare agents, toxins, and the effects of nuclear weapons and radiation. The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past three years has highlighted the significance of understanding the biological threat of CBRN events. It has also shown the need for effective management in such situations due to the potential for mass casualties. Moreover, with the rise of asymmetric warfare, including the prominent use of CBRN weapons in conflicts like the Syrian civil war following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, there is a growing concern that these agents may be used in future wars or terror-related scenarios.

The event aims to bring together numerous experts, representatives from the public and private sectors, and academics from Istanbul and beyond to present the latest developments and technologies in CBRN defense. We believe that this meeting will contribute to filling the existing gap in Istanbul regarding this field.
